The Black y Brown Arts Festival (ByB) is a celebration and showcase of African, African-American, Hispanic, Latinx, Asian, Pacific Islanders and Native American creative arts and artists, affirming community space, preserving arts appreciation, and pride in the spirit of diversity of the local Bloomington community. The festival will provide a medium for local talent to showcase visual and performance art in an environment that engages the audience with artists and their work.
2023 The ByB Festival will host a two-day event!
Part One: Arts Festival Gallery Exhibition held on September 8th, 2023 at 4th Street Garage Storefront! Art will be hung until Sept. 29. Visual art includes painting, sculpture, fibers, digital artwork, film, fashion, mixed media, drawing, ceramics, etc. Along with visual art, this gallery event will showcase performance art throughout the evening, i.e. poetry, musical performances, dance, etc. This event will close with a film showcase from Cicada Cinema. Part One of the festival will feature PG13 works of art.
Part Two: A free, family-friendly arts market that will feature food vendors, community art activities, and community info booths. Following the market will be a live show of performance groups and bands.

The Bloomington Black & Brown Arts Festival is seeking submissions of a variety of art styles and forms including but not limited to spoken word, visual arts, ceramics, performance, dance, and craft. To submit works submissions are due Monday, August 28 at 5:30 p.m. Vendors selected will be asked to submit a $10.00 non-refundable fee to reserve space. Artists will be allowed to sell their works.
