First Step Preschool
First Step Preschool is a licensed, non-profit, developmentally appropriate preschool operated by Black Forest Community Church. Founded in 1984, First Step Preschool proudly serves the Black Forest and surrounding communities. Designed to support Kindergarten readiness, our learning environment encourages growth in social skills, language development, cognitive understanding and large and fine motor abilities. First Step Preschool is an educational setting that encourages children’s spiritual awareness. First Step Preschool students are exposed to God’s love in their everyday life in our loving accepting environment. With a balance of teacher-directed and child-directed activities we meet the State of Colorado Early Childhood Benchmarks with both direct instruction and learning centers such as science, dramatic play, math, blocks, computers and library. With an abundance of sensory play, practical life situations and music students enjoying learning how they learn best: through play!

Our Learning Environment
Our learning environment provides developmental growth in concepts, cognitive, problem solving, fine and gross motor skills, self-help skills, whole language, alphabet/phonics, math, science, art, music. In each area of development, we encourage hands-on creativity and self-expression, always giving freedom to explore, contemplate, imagine, initiate and become active in the learning process.
