Where fashion meets high school
ARTS AND CULTURE | October 2025
Amongst all the clubs and activities, students, ranging from artists, photographers, and musicians, have found multiple ways of expressing themselves and have stood out with their unique fashion tastes. They showcase appeal and enthusiasm for style.
Most of the students stick to simplicity when it comes to what they wear. With more than half of the school dressed in sweats, there are a few who take an interest in their everyday approach to the clothes they wear.
Students described this style as “basic”. It is the most common at CHS. When walking into the school you will find that most of the student population's clothing will fall under this category.
Athleisure is a style mostly composed of hoodies, sweatpants, and shorts.
This may be a simple and not a standout style, but the students never fail at adding creativity to clothing considered basic and simple.
Some students do this by lifting a part of the hoodies, specifically on the side to style. This is mostly done by the ladies who tend to pair sweats with tank tops, or a t-shirt, moving more into the baggy style.
The guys usually wear hoodies with shorts or a T-shirt and shorts. The ladies creativity with athleisure happens to be slightly more diverse than what the guys usually do in the style, including some girls wearing sweaters with jeans, which a few boys wear as well.
Vintage is a rare clothing style at CHS, though it seems to be making a comeback in the fashion industry.
This style consists of short skirts, usually worn and stockings. Students typically keep their vintage range to the 2000s.
Baggy is also a style some students take interest in. The style, like athleisure, can also consist of oversized sweatpants and hoodies.
It also has cargo pants, oversized T-shirts, and anything oversized can be considered a part of the baggy style. It is more often worn by guys rather than girls. A few girls do wear this style, usually for comfort.
Last but not least is alternative. This style is anything that doesn’t follow mainstream fashion. It can include goth and emo. Very few students wear this style. Most students in this style center on 2000s emo.
Students in this style wear it to make a statement as Zahra Stortetch said, “I’d describe my style as loud and eccentric.”
Student Creativity
The students are all creative in their own way. They all have ways they want to express themselves, and different things they have to say. With each outfit they wear and all the multiple styles they try, their opinions grow, and they don’t hide what they have to say. They yell it out for the world to hear because they have every right to do so.
