Imagine yourself waking up to a loud slam of a door. Then a shadow creeps along your bedroom walls while a tall, ghostly woman approaches your bed. You suddenly try to break out of that nightmare trance, but you can't because it's your reality.
In 1973, the Perron family bought a farmhouse in Harrisville, Rhode Island. The house was 200 acres, had enough room for five kids, and was made for living the American dream. Although the Perron’s new house was spacious it was also very old. Eight generations of families had lived in the home before the Perron’s. After moving into the new house, the Perron’s belongings started moving around, going missing, and the children saw shadow-like figures. From there, the family's experience worsened. First, Carolyn, the mother, saw an entity. "I was in my bedroom about 5 o'clock in the morning when I had the first visitation. I opened my eyes and saw the most frightening thing I have ever seen in my life.” Soon after her husband Roger commanded demons out in the name of Christ.
Not soon after, the five daughters got tortured by Bathsheba. The girls started having visions, getting scratches, and hearing voices. Most of the spirits would show themselves to the kids often. A spirit attached itself to the Perron’s oldest daughter, Andrea. The family decided a séance would be the best option to talk to the spirit and better understand it.
The Perron’s called paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren. At this séance, Ed and Lorraine Warren attended. When the Warrens walked in to the Perron’s house, Lorraine said, “I knew the house was haunted. All I had to do was walk in it.” Andrea stated in an interview with The People, the only time she was scared was during the séance. During the séance the family watched in horror as a dark entity took over Carolyn, only seconds later Carolyn was lifted off the ground and thrown across the room. After the séance, the spirits in the house heavily intensified. The Warrens believed spirits were lurking from the old families who lived there before.
One of the spirits name’s was Bathsheba. She mostly targeted Carolyn by whispering into her ears horrifying threats. Even after living in the house for ten years and having Ed and Lorraine Warren investigate, the paranormal activity never seemed to stop or even slow down. The Perrons packed up their belongings and moved out of the conjuring house in 1980.
As life went on, Andrea Perron wrote three novels about her experience with the conjuring house. These novels are named “House of Darkness House of Light” which was published in 2011, “House of Darkness House of Light: Volume two” which was published in 2013 and “In a Flicker” published in 2015.
