Dear BISI Community,
Following our highly engaging Languages Week, we have another treat in store and that is the Spring Hat Parade on Friday! We are very excited to see the effort our students put into their projects.
During some of my meetings with you, the issue of 'communication' has come up. To this end the Primary Parent pages have been created for each campus - with information that is specific to each campus.
Our monthly newsletter will also be delivered and updated on this page. From September the newsletter will also be specific to each campus. I know some parents have indicated that they would like to see photos representing their child's campus.
The Parent Page is not intended as a substitute to the school website. We intend to add links to the parent page from the website. However, as this will take some time we have shared the Google Site page with you.
You will find all the relevant information you need as a BISI parent, including contact information with email links, various roles and responsibilities, the monthly menu, the newsletter, all school announcements to name but a few....
I am very pleased to see that our BISI parents are so responsive and engaged in our school community. I appreciate that you are all busy. However, all feedback is greatly appreciated and this is the reason for the surveys. The feedback you provide helps us to identify key areas which may need to be addressed.
We have many new developments coming up shortly and we want to ensure that you bookmark the parent page in order that you may have access to all the information sent out through the Primary section. We will of course continue to send reminders and updates.
Please see the Zekeriyakoy Parent Page link here, along with the link to our survey.
With best wishes,
Natalia Ambridge

Reading, Writing, and Following Instructions by Mrs. Robbins
Year 1B has been learning how to give instructions in Literacy/English this month. The students were able to verbally instruct, create a template to help them plan for their writing, and produce a book with instructions on how to blow up a balloon. They focused on the skills of adding in connectives such as "first, next, and last.'' They also learned how to give their instructions steps to put them in order.
Year 1 students are combining Computer Science and Maths using Beebots. They are learning how to program the Beebots to follow a path. Through this activity they are learning the basic commands and process of computer programming. They are also learning about turns and position, using the vocabulary; forward backward, left and right. The students have been practicing estimating by planning out how they are going to program their Beebots to follow the paths. Working in groups, the students are building perseverance. The students are able to problem solve and work together to program the Beebot to correctly to make it to the end of the line. Even if it takes a few tries!

Key Stage 1 has been training their voices by warm ups. We learned many songs and repeated previous songs “Do-Re-Mi” and “Edelweiss”. We did rhythm practices. We played challenge games. We did body percussion and played unpitched instruments. We’ve deepen our music theory. (The staff, the clef, the treble clef, the bar, end and repeat sign, the time signature), values of the notes and the rests.
Celebrating Nowruz in 2F by Mr. Appleby
To help Malekreza celebrate Nowruz, or Iranian New Year, 2F Dragons used modelling bandage to create 'sculptures' of eggs, before painting them. Iranian, or Persian, New Year begins on the vernal equinox, or the beginning of spring, which is the 21 March on our calendar. The day is celebrated worldwide, and Persians have been decorating eggs to celebrate Nowruz for over 4,000 years! To make the eggs, 2F made a ovoid (3D oval) shape out of plastic. Then, taking small strips one at a time, they dipped the strip in water, and placed them over their egg-shape, smoothing out the strips around the shape.

Students in 4S on the City Campus enjoyed spending time in the snow! Between building snowmen, making angels, and playing outdoors with friends, Y4 students managed to stay busy. Here are some photos and captions the children shared.
Harry: When I went outside I threw a snowball at my dad. We started a snowball fight in our backyard. My dad was making me a snowman. I helped and my dad and I made a shield for the snow ball fight. I made a wall and me and my dad started fighting. I hit my dad but he hit my shield.
Duda: In the snow I played with my family it was so fun. We made a competition of making snow men. Me and my dad won. The most beautiful one is the winner. Me and my dad made Levi and my mom and my sister made Maria. After we had a snow fight my dad won.
Tuana: When I went outside to build a snowman it did not stay upright, so my mom helped me a little bit. When I was done I was running with my dog for 9 minutes and when I asked if we could stay for a few more minutes my mom said yes. My mom made a film of me and my dog. It got very cold so we went home.

Thank you from the PTA!
Dear Parents, BISI Staff and Students,
Heartfelt thanks go to each and every one of you who contributed to our Ukraine appeal last week. What a turn out! All in all, it was a very successful appeal and we have received more than 300 boxes with essential supplies, food and medicine mostly for babies and children. You played a very important part in making the Appeal such a successful one. It is an accomplishment which you can be proud of.
The supplies you have donated, together with other humanitarian aids, were all sent to Ukraine after the necessary checks were carried out by the Ukrainian Consulate and their volunteers. Once again, you have gone the extra mile to make our community a better place for us to work and live. Again, we would like to thank you for supporting our appeal and helping those most in need.
Your sincerely,
BISI PTA
