This session will be provided by our Local Mental Health Authority, Bluebonnet Trails Community Services. As required by §153.1015, School district employees who regularly interact with students are employees working on a school campus, including, but not limited to, teachers, coaches, librarians, instructional coaches, counselors, nurses, administration, administrative support personnel, student support personnel, paraprofessionals, substitutes, custodians, cafeteria staff, bus drivers, crossing guards, and district special programs liaisons. This session is available to ALL staff. All staff who interact with students must be trained by 2028-2029 school year. Staff must take this training only once to meet statutory requirements.
If an employee has previously completed the YMHFA course provided by a local mental health authority, they are not required to retake it. Staff are required to upload the certificate upon completion of the course. If earned outside of Bastrop ISD, please choose the LINK TO UPLOAD CERTIFICATE below.

The session will emphasize the development of clear, positively stated expectations centered on safe, respectful, and responsible behaviors, along with the implementation of an effective behavior management system that prioritizes positive reinforcement and mutual respect agreements.

Description: In this session, participants (teachers Pre-K to 5th grade) will learn how to create a positive classroom community through the use of Community Building Circles. The session will focus on establishing clear expectations for circles, effectively utilizing a talking piece, identifying appropriate times to implement circles, and developing questions that foster positive relationships between students and teachers.

Backwards design is a planning approach that begins with the end in mind—identifying the desired learning outcomes first, then determining how students will demonstrate mastery, and finally designing instruction to support that learning. In this summer session, K-12 teachers will explore how to disaggregate TEKS to clarify the depth and intent of the standards, increase the level of questioning to promote deeper thinking, and align standards, assessments, and daily instruction to create purposeful, high-quality, and rigorous learning experiences that drive student success.

2026-2027 School Year (Due Aug. 3rd 2026)
Beginning in Summer 2026, TEA is requiring Civics Academy for elementary principals and teachers. One principal & teacher from each campus must attend during Summer 2026. Chosen teachers have already been identified for each campus. Only sign up for this session if you are attending Civics Academy after May 22 and are declining the stipend for attending.
