Wed., March 3rd- Get mixed up in a good book- Wear mismatched clothes
Thurs., March 4th- Reading makes you brighter- Wear neon colored clothes
Friday, March 5th- Cuddle up and read- Wear pajamas

Scan and send me a copy OR turn it into me in the library!!! The forms must be in no later than SEPTEMBER 11!!!
I cannot wait to see you all again! With all of the changes these days, the library will be much different this year. Most details, I don't know yet so check back here periodically for the latest news.
All of the BISD Libraries will provide access to digital ebook and audiobook collections for our students. We will be using the SORA app that is available on your Chromebook, computer, or a mobile device for free. Just look for SORA.
I am looking into how SUMMER READING documents will be turned in. I will post as soon as I know. Until then...please continue reading and filling them out!

The 2019-2020 Bluebonnet Book Program ends Friday, April 17th.
The Rolling Reader will be open TBA from 7:15 am - 7:35 am.
Students may bring a book from home to exchange for a new one.

Author Leslie M. Gordon will be visiting our 4th and 5th graders on Wednesday, November 20th.

Pumpkin/Gourd Book Character Contest
It’s Fall and time for our 11th annual Pumpkin/Gourd Book Character Contest. Each entry must dress/decorate a pumpkin or gourd as their favorite book character and create a poem about their character to go with it. Pumpkins and gourds must be in good condition with no cuts (or better yet…use a faux pumpkin). Each entry name will be put in a drawing for prizes. Two winners will be drawn for each grade level. All entries must be in the library with the information below (name, teacher, grade and poem), between October 28th & 29th (no earlier than that please due to pumpkin leakage and deterioration). Winners will be announced on Friday, November 1st. All entries must be removed by Friday, November 1st.

K-1st grade: 3 word poem, can be name, color, and shape.
Example: Elmo, Red, Fuzzy.
2nd-3rd grade: 3 line -5 line poem.
Example: Little Red Riding Hood,
Goes through the forest alone

4th-5th grade: 5 lines or more, can be an acrostic, ABC poem, limerick, etc.
Example: (Harry Potter)

WE HAD 143 BURLESON PUBLIC LIBRARY CARDS DISTRIBUTED ON CURRICULUM NIGHT!!! WOW!!! If your child didn't get one, please visit the BPL and they can help you! (They're FREE and you only need a drivers license to fill out the application!!)
Parents! Bring you driver's license to Curriculum Night on Thursday! We want 100% of our students to have a Burleson Public LIbrary card! Sign ups will be in our foyer before and after Curriculum Night! They are FREE to all BISD students!
