Hello! My name is Carrie Sellers and I am excited to be teaching 1st grade this year! I grew up in Southern California in a family of educators. From the time I was little, I wanted to be an elementary school teacher. After graduating from Point Loma University with a degree in liberal studies and a biology concentration, I received my teaching credential through Cal State University and taught kindergarten and 4th grade in Southern California at a science magnet school. When my daughter was born, I had the opportunity to begin writing science and social studies curriculum from home. In 2000, we moved to Washington and have been on Bainbridge Island since 2004. My husband and I have four children; Emma (24), Eli (22), Grace (19), and Isaac (17). Emma just returned from a year of teaching abroad in Africa and Europe and has just begun her teaching career in California. Eli graduated last spring from UW with a degree in statistics and data science and Is using these skills at a start-up company. Grace is entering her sophomore year of college in Southern California and majoring in accounting. Isaac is a senior at BHS and I enjoy watching him play wide receiver for the football team on Friday nights. Go Spartans! In my free time, my favorite things are baking, hiking, reading, and spending time with my friends and family. I started working for BISD as a substitute and paraeducator in 2019 and have loved returning to the classroom. I am thrilled to begin my 3rd year in 1st grade and look forward to getting to know your students and learning with them. This is truly my dream job!
