Mrs. Darling

Hello!

I am Mrs. Darling, First Grade Teacher at Wilkes Elementary. This is my 18th year teaching.  I was introduced to the Wilkes community when my son started second grade here. My husband Mark and I still enjoy connections from that time.  We thought we were staying in Washington for 3 years, but here we are 20 years later! My children, Chris, Katy and Tim are now grown and I have 2 new grandchildren.

Teaching is a second career for me. I have an undergraduate degree in Business and received my Masters in Education. I am a National Board Certified Teacher. At Halilts,  I’ve taught third grade, kindergarten and first grade.  I love to learn, whether it’s taking a class through Park and Rec, a college, or just reading about new topics.

A hard question for me is, “Where are you from?” I was born in Ohio, and visit often, but have also lived in Chicago,  Connecticut, New York, France and Florida and have family in many places. When I’m not teaching, you may see me walking my dogs Otis and Lucy or at the playground with Charlie or Logan, my grandkids.  I love being with my family, spending time outdoors, reading, exploring new places, gardening, sports, cooking and a good laugh! I look forward to hearing your stories.
