Ms. Tandy's Kindergarten

Welcome to Ordway! I am so excited to be your kindergarten teacher this year! 

My name is Julia Tandy (you can call me Julia or Ms. Tandy!) and I can't wait to meet you so soon! 

I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and taught 4th grade there before moving to Washington. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Tulsa and a Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Washington. As part of my graduate studies, I also completed IslandWood's Education for the Environment and Community program right here on Bainbridge Island - in fact, it's what brought me to the PNW! At IslandWood, I worked with 4th and 5th graders from all over Seattle and even worked as a summer program instructor for all ages of local Bainbridge Island kiddos. 

I live here on Bainbridge with my husband, Alex, our dog, Lando, and our two cats, Ripley and Oliver. We love animals! In our free time, we love reading, playing games, and going on outdoor adventures like hiking, camping, and backpacking (Lando loves to join us when he can!).

This will be my fourth year teaching kindergarten at Ordway. I love being an Ordway Otter, and I hope you do too!

We're going to have so much fun together in kindergarten this year!
