Smithfield Middle School Band

Smithfield Middle School is located in the DFW metroplex and serves a population of over 800 students. It is one of seven middle schools in the Birdville Independent School District. BISD serves over 22,000 students at 32 campuses. Recognized as an Advanced Learning and College Prep campus, Smithfield Middle School is ranked as the #68 "Best Middle School" among all 1,993 middle schools in the state of Texas and #3 in Tarrant County by U.S. News and World report.

The Smithfield Middle School Band consists of over 275 6th-8th grade members performing in 5 different ensembles: Honors Band, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Beginning Band, and Jazz Band. The Smithfield Honors Band has consistently earned superior ratings at the UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest as well as other local festivals since the school opened in 1975. From 2020-2022, the Honors Band was named a National Winner in the Mark of Excellence Project and has also advanced to the Area round of the TMEA Honor Band Contest. The Raider Band is a proud feeder to the Birdville High School Mighty Hawk Band.
