We are thrilled to announce an upcoming Bi+ Book Gang anthology: Bi All Accounts. This collection aims to celebrate and amplify the diverse experiences and perspectives of bi+ individuals (i.e., bisexuals, pansexuals, plurisexuals, anyone under the bi+ umbrella) through poetry, songs, art, fiction, and nonfiction.
Deadline: March 1 at 11:59 PM ET.
In our inaugural edition, we hope to explore the very real, very painful topic of bisexual erasure. Since bisexual erasure casts a wide shadow, we invite writers to engage with the topic in whatever way feels right to them. This could be a character dealing with bisexual erasure, an essay about your experiences, a report on the history of bisexual erasure in your country, a song about bisexual resistance…seriously, anything, as long as it makes us feel something.
The Bi+ Book Gang does not accept work that has been previously curated, in print or online—poems may be self-published on social media, blogs, or message boards but cannot have been published in books, magazines, or similar collections open to the public. We want to be the first publisher to highlight the poems, but we never want to discourage anyone from sharing their poems themselves.
The Bi+ Book Gang does not accept work predominantly generated by artificial intelligence. Writing is a tool for expanding the human spirit, which means humans should do writing.
Simultaneous submissions are encouraged. If the work is accepted elsewhere, email us at admin@biplusbookgang.com to let us know. We don’t publish anything without your signature, anyway; if another journal beats us to the punch, congratulations!
Genres: We welcome all genres, including but not limited to romance, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, contemporary, and more. Your work should highlight bi+ness in some fashion, though we leave this open to your interpretation.
Fiction and Nonfiction: Prose submissions should be at most 5,000 words.
Poetry: Poets may submit up to 5 poems.
Art: Please submit one high-quality image (PNG).
Eligibility: Submissions are open to anyone who identifies as bi+.
Format: Please submit your work in a Word document (.doc or .docx) or PDF via our Google Form. Prose submissions should be 12-point, double-spaced, and include page numbers in the top right-hand corner. Poetry should be formatted the way you’d like it printed.
Deadline: All submissions must be received by March 1 by 11:59 PM ET.
When submitting, use the appropriate fields when you upload your file into the Google Form, but avoid including your name or contact information anywhere within the file itself. We ignore the writer’s name while reading submissions to be as fair as possible, and this makes it easier.
All rights revert to the authors upon publication. To get technical, we require First Rights, meaning we want to be the first publisher to present your work to the public. This means that we won’t consider work that has been published in books, magazines, or newspapers, in print or online. We will, however, consider poems that have only been self-published to blogs, message boards, or social media accounts.
Though authors retain all rights to their work, we post everything we publish on the back-issues section of the website after print publication, so we require Non-Exclusive Electronic Rights.
Response times vary greatly, depending on volume and where we are in the production schedule, and can take anywhere from one to three months. Please do not query. We read all submissions and will reply to everyone submitting their work.
Please note that it is not possible to revise a submission while it’s being considered. If we decide to publish any of them, you will have an opportunity to revise the author galleys at that time. Please proofread your work carefully before you submit—but only for the sake of your own sanity. Typos happen; we don’t discard work because of them.
For any inquiries, please contact admin@biplusbookgang.com.
We look forward to reading your work and celebrating the richness of bisexual experiences through this anthology. Join us in making the Bi+ Book Gang's first anthology a testament to the strength and diversity of bisexual voices.
At this time, the Bi+ Book Gang cannot pay for submissions. All proceeds from the anthology will go to host a bi+ writers' conference. All contributors can expect a complimentary ticket to our upcoming conference.
