Is Permanent Makeup a Tattoo?

Yes, but specifically in the category of cosmetic tattooing. Because the focus is to enhance natural features in a way that is not so obvious. So, you can look prettier, healthier, more youthful, professional and respectable, 24/7.

What Is Permanent Makeup?

Permanent makeup is the process of implanting pigment into the skin to resemble makeup.

How Is the Pigment Implanted?

A tool with microneedles is used to break, enter and deposit pigment into the skin.  Technicians can choose to use either a manual or an electric tool.

Is Microblading Different?

No. Microblading is just a method of application with a simple, non-electric tool, using a side-to-side motion to make an incision, similar to a blade. This method falls under the same category of permanent makeup.

Why Do I Prefer the Machine Method?

Instead of using pressure to drag the needles and slice the skin manually, the electric tool, punctures, by going in and out rapidly, and this helps me provide a more consistent, deeper application with less trauma and longer lasting results.

How Long Does It Last?

The color implanted cannot be washed off. However, as with all tattoos, fading happens with time. Permanent makeup requires periodic touchups to keep the designs crisp and colors fresh. Natural looking enhancements are likely to require touchups long before bold designs.

Why does it Fade?

Your body will push out some pigment during the healing process. In time, some factors that affect color integrity are sun exposure, anti-aging treatments, skin renewal, skin types and body chemistry.

Does It Hurt?

Did you know that snoring is music to my ears? Don't worry I take great pride in making sure you feel comfortable and relaxed throughout the entire procedure, with a state-of-the-art anti pain protocol. When you're comfortable, then, it's easier for me to create beautiful artistry. 

What Is the Protocol for Comfort?

• Wear comfy clothes.

• Take Benadryl upon arrival. Antihistamines minimize swelling, tears, and help you relax. 

• Additionally, eyeliner clients are required to take anti-anxiety prescription medication. Please ask your doctor in advance.

• After the consultation and signing of disclaimers is complete, right before getting in the treatment bed, you will be required to use the restroom.

• The treatment table is very comfortable, with medical grade bedding and a blanket. I will personally help and tuck you in.

• Topical anesthesia will be applied generously and covered with a warm compress to process for 20 minutes before we begin.

• During this time your eyes will be covered with a black out disposable strip that will trick your brain into bedtime mode.

• You will hear relaxing spa music during the entire visit.

• Numbing gel is reapplied throughout the procedure after every pass.

How Long does the Procedure Take?

Visits typically last about 2 hours. This includes consultation, signing documents, numbing, before and after pictures, scheduling your next appointment, and taking payment.

Is It Safe?

BioTouch products are made from high quality ingredients, undergo extensive lab search and have proven to be safe over many years. We also practice strict sanitation. Clients are responsible for following aftercare instructions during the healing process.

Are There Any Risks?

• Let us know if you are allergic to Lidocaine, Benadryl, or Latex.

• Lip color procedures have the risk of producing a cold sore. This is a common viral infection caused by the herpes simplex virus which results in fluid-filled blisters on or around the lips. Medication can be taken to prevent a breakout.

• Infections can occur when a client does not follow the aftercare instructions carefully and the open wound comes into contact with germs.

• Inexperienced technicians may hold the machine improperly at an angle that accidentally produces fanning, bleeding and migration of pigment. Dramatic eyeliner designs with wings are especially at high risk of this unfortunate occurrence.

• Misplacement of pigment could easily happen if a client moves suddenly or has trouble controlling involuntary reactions during eyeliner procedures. For this reason, we require anti-anxiety medication be taken prior to all eyeliner sessions. Ask your doctor to prescribe helpful medication for your eyeliner procedure.

• Signed release form is required before we begin your procedure.

How Much Does It Cost?

My prices range from $400 to $1,000. Initial procedures include a second session to perfect the new design. We recommend yearly touchups until your design is well established. Eventually, you will notice that you can space out your touchups a few years apart.

What is the After Care Regimen?

Immediately after the procedure, clients must avoid direct sunlight and steamy areas such as hot tubs, as well as chlorine, sea salt and sweat. Reapply a thin coat of petroleum jelly to the treated area throughout the day to maintain flexibility. Do not touch, pick or peel. Follow the aftercare regimen 7 - 10 days. 

How Long does it Take to Heal?

Every individual is unique and healing times vary from person to person. On average, the initial healing stage occurs in the outer (epidermis) layer of the skin and is complete within 7 - 10 days.  The second stage of healing involves the inner (dermal) layer of the skin which continues to heal for another 6 - 8 weeks.  Interesting fact: younger skin tends to heal faster than younger skin.

Is there Pain or Side Effects? What Can I Expect as Far as Recovery?

Immediately after the procedure the treated area may be swollen, irritated and red. The design will appear bolder and thick. Some clients experience bruising, especially in the case of more advanced eyeliner designs with wings.

During the healing process itching is normal. Be careful not to touch or rub. You can use a clean swab with a light layer of ointment to keep the area moist and flexible.   Interesting fact: Younger skin seems to heal faster than aging skin.

New clients could experience emotional distress due to the appearance of the unhealed design. Trust the process! The design will evolve and be ready to be judged after healing is complete. We look forward to seeing the true results during your follow up visit AFTER at least 4 weeks of your procedure. Be patient, let's not talk about it until then. You're going to love it!

How Soon Can I Get a Touchup?

We recommend follow up sessions to be spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart. This allows needed time for complete healing of the skin, inside and out. Performing a touch up prematurely can lead to unwanted consequences such as scarring and bad pigment retention.

Do The Pigments Pose Allergy Problems?

Some doctors recommend that people with allergies get permanent makeup to replace cosmetic products that they are sensitive to. The application is just deep enough to penetrate the minute capillaries of the dermal layer of the skin. None of my guests have ever experienced an allergic reaction.

What Are Permanent Cosmetics Made Of?

Most micro pigments are made from a dry, powdery and insoluble substance that is usually pulverized. Solvents carry the pigment powder in liquid form and it becomes a paint or ink. Binders hold the formula together and preservatives keep it microorganism free. Different colors are formulated with oxides which are safe for the skin. 

How does Permanent Makeup Mix with Other Treatments such as: Laser, Peels, Dermabrasion, Fillers, or Botox?

Cosmetic tattoos should be protected to avoid premature fading. Always inform your esthetician, laser technician and/or doctor about your enhancements.
