Center for Information Assurance and Cybersecurity

The Center for Information Assurance and Cybersecurity (CIAC) is one of the Organized Research Centers at Binghamton University. CIAC aims to bring together existing strengths of cybersecurity researchers at Binghamton and create a synergy greater than their individual research efforts.

The vision of the center is to advance research and education in information assurance and cybersecurity across the spectrum, from securing critical and enterprise digital infrastructure to protecting individuals’ personal data and privacy.

To achieve this vision, the mission of the center will be:

  • Facilitating high-quality interdisciplinary collaboration among cybersecurity researchers at Binghamton that impacts academia, industry, and policy making;

  • Building a cybersecurity community through research partnerships with the industry, research labs, and other universities;

  • Coordinating the cybersecurity certificate program and cybersecurity course offerings across multiple departments at Binghamton University to train highly skilled cybersecurity professionals.

Binghamton University has been designated by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Research (CAE-R) in 2020-2025. The application effort was led by CIAC.
