Music Appreciation

Hi! My name is Christine Leichtnam. I teach Music Appreciation for Black Hills Online Learning. I hold a BA in music from South Dakota State University and an MMEd from the University of Hartford in Hartford, CT. I have taught public school music for 38 years. I play piano and bass clarinet. I currently play bass clarinet in the Rapid City Municipal Band and the Black Hills Symphony.

Course Info:

Music Appreciation allows students to study a variety of genres and styles of music. It is an introductory course that serves as an overview for understanding and enjoying music. Students enter into a study of the foundations of music, composers, performance, and listening. Playing an instrument is not a pre-requisite for this course. I look forward to being your guide in this musical exploration.
