High School 101

Learn how to access your PowerSchool Parent Portal account; you can view your student’s grades, attendance, and communicate with teachers via e-mail. Academic resources available to your student, an overview of the guidance curriculum, and how Naviance will be used with your student will be discussed.

Recommended for: Parents of Freshman.

Financial Aid Night September 19th, 2018 6:30 pm

Learn about the factors that are considered when awarding financial aid and the types of financial aid that are available. Parents and students will learn how to apply for a Federal Student Aid Id. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and items needed to complete it will be discussed. The Student Aid Report (SAR), Excepted Family Contribution (EFC), how to determine cost of attendance and how financial aid is determined by a college/university will also be reviewed. Parents and students will also learn about additional websites that can be utilized to search for scholarship opportunities.

FAFSA Completion Event October 4th, 2018 - 4:00pm - 6:00pm

Receive individual assistance from Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) representatives in completing your student’s Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). It is important that all needed documentation is brought with you to this event. See the flyer below for needed documentation.

Focused on Careers

Learn about the career exploration process your student follows throughout high school. An overview of the Naviance website will be given. Parents will learn how students determine possible careers of interest, research and explore careers, access educational information, and create a resume.

Recommended for: Parents of Sophomores.

Get Set For College/Junior Parent Night 2nd Semester

Learn about the benefits of continuing your education after high school. Parents will learn a simple six step process that will assist their student in organizing the college planning process; (1) know yourself and your reasons for attending college, (2) consider college characteristics, (3) list, compare, and visit colleges, (4) apply for admissions and meet all deadlines, (5) develop a plan to pay for your education, and (6) review and finalize your plans.

Recommended for: Parents of Juniors.
