Where Inspiring Excellence is Our Standard and Student Achievement is the Result
ABOUT LITERACY LAB
The Literacy Lab is located in the Library Media Center of Triton High School. I am dedicated to creating a productive environment where students can enhance their reading skills including developing comprehension, vocabulary, writing, and critical thinking skills necessary to engage with the texts included in the curriculum. The Literacy Lab is a place where students can receive support in a small group setting, according to their individual academic needs.
This year we will be focusing on building students' stamina for reading and writing. Through dynamic practices in vocabulary, journaling, and oral reading students will build endurance that will serve them in Triton English classes and in their future endeavors!
I work closely with teachers, administrators, and counselors to monitor student achievement data and identify any students who may need support in the Literacy Lab. If you feel that your student could use additional literacy support, please reach out to me or your child's counselor. We will mail home a letter with more information for those students who attend Literacy Lab.
ABOUT ME
I have been an educator for over fifteen years and this is my eighth year as a Reading Specialist. I received an undergraduate degree from St. Joseph's University and my Master's in Reading Education from Rowan University. I was fortunate to continue my journey in literacy education when I received training in the Science of Reading and received my Orton Gillingham Certificate. I'm beginning my second year at Triton and I am excited to help readers achieve their academic goals and find the joy in reading!
