The 1001 Book program is a free reading program that begins in preschool(or sooner!) and ends when your child has read 1,001 books. Our program provides book bags; each filled with 10 books for a family to share. When the bag is returned, another bag is chosen. Please return bags within 1-2 weeks.
Your child may outgrow the reading level of the books in our bags. Feel free to continue or supplement with a paper reading log and/or use your child’s public library card reading history. Mrs. Darling at the Town of Ballston Library can show you how.
When your child has completed the program, please hand in your reading logs to Mrs. Neddo. Children who have graduated from this program will proudly display a 1001 Book lawn sign in their yard the fall or spring the year of completion. Your child will be recognized after 500 books have been read, then after 1,000. Our school principal reads them their 1001st book!
Bags and forms can be accessed in our school lobby.
