"Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you never cease to grow."
Anthony J. D'Angelo
I am a 1996 graduate of Hart County High School and grew up in Cub Run, KY. I graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Recombinant Genetics (Chemistry minor) and a Secondary Science Certification. I began teaching at BGHS in August 2001 and completed my Masters of Arts in Education in 2004. I completed National Board Certification (AYA Science) in 2009 and earned an Educational Administration degree in 2019.
I have been married to Brett Coomes for 19 years and have two children, Emma and Ben. Emma is a junior at BGHS and Ben is a 7th grader at BGJHS. Our family bleeds purple and loves attending BGHS events. We enjoy vacationing at the beach and relaxing at home.
I am most passionate about working with students and helping students gain/increase confidence in their abilities to be academically successful. ALL students have the ability to learn; however, the path to success is different for each student. My mission is to help students become successful and to support teachers so they can navigate the paths for each student. I hope to leave a positive impression on the students and faculty at BGHS.
