PROGRAM SUMMARY

Established in 1971, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County’s (BGCPBC) Great Futures 21st Century Community Learning Center (GF21st CCLC) at Forest Hill Community High School (FHCHS) located at 6901 Parker Ave, West Palm Beach, FL, serves 200 students after school, 40 students before school, 20 students on designated weekends, and 150 students during the summer. GF21st CCLC provides academic support and enrichment, tutoring, advising, service-learning, and college/career readiness activities. Program components are delivered by FDOE certified teachers and youth development professionals. The overarching goal of GF21st CCLC is to help students reach their highest potential, academically prepared, workforce ready, and engaged in their communities.

The program will operate M-F, from 7:30am-8:30am and 3:45pm – 6:15pm for 149 school days, 8am-12:30pm on designated Saturdays, and 8:00am – 12:30pm for 28 days during the summer.

OBJECTIVES

The Great Futures 21st CCLC program partners with schools and utilizes best-practices to:

1.       Support on-time grade progression and high school graduation

2.       Increase parent/guardian involvement

3.       Bolster academic achievement

4.       Increase college and career readiness

5.       Engage students in service-learning

Core academic subjects are taught by FDOE certified teachers (teacher to student ratio 1:15) and are aided by ELL and ESE certified teachers, as needed. Accommodations are made for students with disabilities or special needs, with services provided at a ratio of 1:1 to 1:10, based on students’ individual needs. Tutoring, advising, and academic remediation are available to students year round, daily, before and after school, on specified weekends, and during the summer break.

With funding from the FDOE, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County’s Great Futures 21st CCLC at Forest Hill Community High School supports the mission and priorities of the school, addresses the educational needs of students and families, provides programming that ensures Florida students are prepared for high demand jobs that support great futures and charts a course for Florida to be Number 1 in workforce education by 2030.
