Do you want something more than Spirit Week? Then consider supporting a Class Fair!
But what is a Class Fair? A Class Fair is a C-day long lunch period full of activities and games. Students can set up activities in classrooms using teacher volunteers. Then during the Class Fair, other students/clubs can participate in these activities, allowing for a creative day of student-led fun. It's for students by students!
Let's basically make an activity where students actually do something. Yay!
No major events during second semester
There's nothing fun happening later in the school year aside from breaks. And it's cool that we do nothing on Spirit Day, but if you're not participating in anything, you're basically just watching people sweat while throwing a ball or watch people fail in quiz bowl while you shake your head in disappointment. Why doesn't the general student population get to do anything? But don't worry, that's what the Class Fair is for. You can participate in a bunch of things like karaoke, a maze, and board games.
A Class Fair in the Spring
Description
A day full of activities would give a nice break from academics and give students an opportunity to lead their own projects. With a tentative date of March 31st, this is aimed to happen in an empty period of school before exams set in.
Activities
Some activity examples include:
Karaoke
Mazes
Musical Chairs
Board games/Card games
Video games
Dodgeball (Hopefully)
Ideas of your own!
Details
Most activities will not have any involvement with money; however, there will be a few exceptions
Musical chairs will be allowed to have a price on doing the game if there is a prize (like a cake)
Any new activity proposals should be done at least 1 month in advance
All activities/materials must be privately funded
However, there will be potential “Bake sale days” where different groups of students can go have a bake sale once a week
There will be a google form to fill out if this is approved
There must be a teacher observing each activity
Flyers for the activities can be put throughout the school
Approval is required
All setup for activities should be done a day before the class fair
Desks can only be rearranged with permission from the teacher of that classroom
Activity cancellations must be at least 2 weeks before the class fair.
Trade-offs
Activities are privately funded. Groups will have to pay for their own materials
It can get chaotic due to being student operated
Benefits
This is a good opportunity to show responsibility as students.
Despite being privately funded, you will have opportunities to fund your activity at school through bake sales.
It's fun!
School can sometimes be a drag, so let's add some flavor to the school spirit through the class fair!
