In Spalding each day, students begin by writing their spelling words in their notebooks. They start by trying the words on their own, then I model the correct spelling and markings for them. After that, they have time to review and correct their work based on the example I’ve provided. Once they've made their corrections, I check their notebooks.

If their work matches mine for the day, they earn a sticker on their sticker chart. At the end of Quarter 1, students who earned 12 or more stickers were rewarded with a special lunchtime slime-making activity.
