Welcome, students! My name is Ms. Blatter, and I am so excited to welcome you to Benjamin Franklin High School. Now that you are here, you will be held to higher expectations: you will be challenged to learn new skills, read more difficult texts, complete more work, and become a better, stronger, happier, and more-fulfilled person. However, you will only get out of it what you put into it: you need to commit yourself to our project each and every day in order to grow.
Over the next ten months, you will tackle some of the most brilliant, challenging, enduring, and rewarding texts in the Western canon. In the process, you will begin to see yourself in these texts: you will meet others who think your thoughts, face your fears, and struggle against your weaknesses. You will watch others face dragons and win, so that when the time comes to take up arms yourself, you know what to do.
This website is where you will come for information about our class. All weekly lesson plans, assignments, handouts, and class announcements will be posted here. The lesson plans and homework for the following week will be posted each Friday for your convenience. Please also check PowerSchool at least once a week to monitor your progress and check for missing work.
