Coach Jefferies

Coach Dave Jefferies is entering his 22nd year of coaching high school football. He graduated from Cibola High School in Yuma, AZ in 1992, and then received his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT in 1999. While completing his degree, Coach Jefferies coached football one year each at Provo High School as a freshman assistant and then at Mountain View High School in Orem as a JV assistant. He then moved to Gilbert, AZ where he joined the Mesquite High School varsity coaching staff for Mesquite's inaugural varsity season. While teaching PE/Weights and coaching the offensive line at Mesquite, Coach Jefferies completed his Master's Degree in Educational Leadership through Northern Arizona University. After 7 seasons at Mesquite, Coach Jefferies moved to Desert Ridge High School in Mesa to shorten his commute from San Tan Valley and he continued as a varsity assistant and PE/Weights teacher for the next 3 years. When Campo Verde High School in Gilbert opened it's doors in 2009, Coach Jefferies became the offensive coordinator and head strength coach and served in that capacity for the next 3 years. In 2012 Coach Jefferies and Family moved to Thatcher, AZ where he accepted the head football coaching job at Thatcher High School. While at Thatcher, Coach Jefferies was able to compile a 30-7 record and be a part of some very special teams. Coach Jefferies’ most enjoyable memory while at Thatcher was beating Yuma Catholic in the 2013 regular season. This was Yuma Catholic’s only loss to a team other than Northwest Christian in 5 years, and their only home loss in three years. In 2015 Coach Jefferies was offered the Head Football Coaching position at Benjamin Franklin High School in Queen Creek, AZ. Coach Jefferies jumped at the chance to take on this challenge of building the program at Benjamin Franklin. Coach Jefferies and his wife Becki have 5 children; they are Chad, Noah, Zach, Sariah, and Hailey.

Coach Horne

Coach Alec Horne entered Benjamin Franklin at the beginning of the second semester of the 2019/2020 school year. This is Coach Horne's first year teaching Physical Education in the classroom but not his first experience teaching. From 2013-2019, Horne taught 7-11 grade History teaching man different history courses. Coach Horne has been coaching for the past 11 seasons in football and wrestling working with youth levels up to the junior college level. As a high school athlete, Horne was involved in football, wrestling and rugby. In rugby, Horne earned all state honors twice and went onto play college rugby at Arizona State University for two seasons.

ABOUT COACH REYNOLDS

A native of Bay City, Michigan, Coach Reynolds enjoyed being raised on the Great Lakes. She graduated from Hillsdale College in Michigan with a Bachelor’s of Art in art and physical education, where she was heavily involved in the art department, the sports medicine department and was a member of the women’s softball team. Coach Reynolds also studied at the Florence University of Art where she studied art history and photography.

Coach Reynolds is heavily involved in Middle Eastern human rights advocacy. She has had the opportunity to travel to the Middle East several times and used her photography to educate others on various conflicts and human rights issues. She has published a photographic book entitled "Terror & Hope Christians of the Middle East," has been published in multiple publications on the topic, as well as shown her art work in Manhattan and DC. She has also had her photographic work published in the Smithsonian Magazine, New York Post, Detroit Free Press and Wall Street Journal.

Coach Reynolds spends much of her time coaching softball, hiking, biking and enjoying nature (often times with her cat, Lily).
