DR. LISA CARR

Dr. Carr's professional background includes more than 32 years as an educator, college professor, and consultant. She previously, served as the Director of Admissions for Russell Sage College, Director of the Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) as well as an Assistant Professor for the Esteves School of Education at Russell Sage College, and Director of Multicultural Student Services and Recruitment at Albany Medical College.

EDUCATION

After receiving her Bachelor's degree in Communications & Rhetoric from the University at Albany, Dr. Carr earned a Master's degree from The Sage Colleges and CAS from University at Albany (Educational Administration & Policy Studies). She completed her doctoral studies at The Sage Colleges in the Educational Leadership Program in 2010. Dr. Carr's doctoral research focused on the "Perceptions of Current Principals and Superintendents Regarding the Multicultural Competencies Needed in the 21st Century."

COMMUNITY IMPACT

Dr. Carr enjoys volunteering in the community and helping others. For many years, she has served as an active member of numerous professional organizations including New York State Association for College Admissions Counseling and the National Association for College Admission Counseling and is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Additionally, Dr. Carr is passionate about working with students from diverse backgrounds and has advised student groups in higher education and the secondary school setting for 32 years. As a member of the leadership team for Bridge2College for First Gen high school students and committee member for numerous Diversity groups locally, Dr. Carr is a valuable resource sharing ideas, vision, and expertise.

FAMILY

Dr. Carr is proud of her talented daughter Paige, who is a writer and graduate from Emerson College in Boston with a Master's in Writing Literature & Publishing. Paige is also an activist and educator who shares her thoughts about culture, diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.

INTERESTS

Dr. Carr's personal interests include mindfulness, personal fitness, traveling, gardening, community service, public speaking and spending time with family and friends.
