Dear Meadow View project

Dear Meadow View Students,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! While this school year is starting in a different way than any school year ever has, it is a new beginning to something we will share together. Newness can be unsettling and scary as well as exciting and energizing. Please know that however you are feeling right now, there are other students and adults at Meadow View who have the same feelings. You are not alone; we are traveling this path of newness together.

The past six months since the COVID virus forced schools to switch from in-person learning to distance learning have brought a lot of change in each of our selves, families, community, and the world. I know I am not the same teacher who stood before you on March 13th, 2020, our last day of in-person instruction, and I am sure you are not the same students who walked the halls, played on the playground, and learned in Meadow View classrooms. I look forward to seeing how you’ve changed. While I will miss the first day of school hugs, seeing your new backpacks, and marveling at just how tall you have grown, I am just as excited to hear about how you have been spending your time this summer. I want to know your hopes and dreams and learn about what brings you joy.

As we begin this new school year, I want you to know that you are the reason your teachers and I are here. While learning can be hard and sometimes frustrating, please know that we all struggle when learning new things and struggle is a part of learning. Avoiding the struggle limits us, so be prepared to struggle a little and grow a lot. I am here to support you when things get tricky and to celebrate your successes.

Have a great school year!

Ms. Thomas
