Topics include: operations under the real number system, multiple representations of functions, similarity, linear equations, area and volume. Problem solving techniques relating algebra and geometry to real world applications are incorporated throughout the course.
Topics include: Solving and graphing linear functions and inequalities, systems of linear equations and inequalities, properties of exponents, and graphing exponential and quadratic functions. Problem solving techniques relating algebra to real world applications.
Topics such as investments, the stock market, business planning, banking, credit cards, and home buying are the framework in which students will explore mathematical concepts such as data analysis, fitting data to equations to linear and quadratic models; interest formulas and systems of equations.
This course furthers the development of functions, which include linear, exponential, piece‐wise, quadratics, and step functions. Other topics studied include measures of center and spread, graphical representations of data, amortization, depreciation, present and future value, supply and demand, revenue and profit functions, loans, compound interest and continuous interest, car ownership, and budgets.
