The Bethel chapter of the National Honor Society is sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals in order to extend special recognition to students who combine outstanding scholarship with demonstrated leadership, extensive service, and exemplary character.
All students in the junior and senior classes who have attended Bethel High School for one semester and who have a weighted grade point average of 3.4 or better are eligible for consideration. Those students must then give evidence of extended service, leadership and good character. The selection of National Honor Society members is made by a faculty council.
Members of the National Honor Society meet monthly to plan service activities. They perform service to the school and to the community both as a group and as individuals. One requirement of all National Honor Society members is that they tutor their peers in academic areas. In all activities both in and out of school, National Honor Society members are expected to be role models for other students and to be leaders.
