Berkeley offers a stunning variety of clubs that appeal to many different people. With Sr. Valdés’ introduction to the Berkeley community this year, a karaoke club can be added to this list.
The club takes place on Fridays in Sr. Valdés’ room, M107. He was inspired to create it by his own love for singing. “I think I’m a frustrated singer, because singing has helped me when I feel upset,” he admits. Taking this passion, he has successfully created a safe space for young singers to try to sing the songs they love without fear of judgement. Brielle T class of ‘32 says “People won’t judge you, and will always be supportive,” an opinion shared by Olivia Z. class of ‘32 who believes that the club is “a safe space for people who want to feel safe while singing.”
The girls told the Bugle that they get to sing a lot of pop songs and songs from their favorite movies. Sometimes, Sr. Valdés even joins in the fun!
