Mariel is a Policy and Research Manager. In this role, she will be working closely on Fair Chance Housing evaluation projects and the Richmond Housing Equity Roadmap. Mariel recently graduated with her Master of Public Health and Master of Public Policy from UC Berkeley. Here, she worked with former Secretary of Labor, Robert Reich, in running a large undergraduate course on wealth inequality. Mariel has experience working on legal justice reform with nonprofits National Center for Youth Law, and Uncommon Law. As part of her capstone, she worked with Contra Costa Health Services to advance community-centered climate resilience solutions. Before graduate school, Mariel worked as a case manager at a behavioral health nonprofit in Los Angeles.
