Ishita is a graduate of the Master of City Planning program from the University of California, Berkeley. She has an architecture background and worked as an architect before realizing she is a planner by heart. While at the Masters program, she explored the planning world through an equity and social justice lens. As a result, she wants to dedicate her creative problem-solving skills to fostering an equitable and just environment for all.
She is passionate about incorporating voices left out of the conventional planning processes. In her pursuit, she worked on recognizing Oakland Chinatown Street Vendors in the Planning processes last year. As the Deeply Rooted Project Manager at Just Cities, Ishita works with community organizations and the City of Oakland to integrate their voices in the Oakland General Plan 2045.
