Ryan Brutger
I am an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley. I earned my Ph.D. in the department of Politics at Princeton University, where I received a Harold W. Dodds Fellowship. Prior to joining Berkeley, I was an Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania.
I am broadly interested in economic policy and foreign policy. My substantive research crosses political economy, international law, and international security, examining the domestic politics of international negotiations and cooperation. I also study experimental methods in the social sciences.
Prior to returning to academia, I was a Director with the Association of Academic Health Centers, where I focused on best practices for international research and operations. I also worked for Sidley Austin LLP, where I was the lead legal assistant on the Airbus-Boeing WTO disputes and worked on ICSID, antidumping, countervailing duties, and trade remedies cases.
