Please note that we reserve the right to track usage of Shires Hall and Mudd Hall. This access can be revoked at any time by Fung Institute Building administration.

Open to MEng students Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm excluding holidays observed by UC Berkeley. Before and after-hour access is required by Cal ID card key access only.
Shires & Mudd Hall: Reserving space
Students/GSIs/Lecturers can book a future or recurring office hours space in advance by emailing: fungreservations@berkeley.edu
If within 48 hours /one time / or just in time: The policy is to reserve on a first-come, first-serve using paper signup on the room wall.

NOTE: We are unable to provide a USB flash drive or print files for you. This printer is for MEng students and staff, please use it mindfully. If you are looking to print large jobs (such as journal articles or anything over 10 pages) or in color, please use a copy shop or print at a campus library (information about printing on campus can be found on the UC Berkeley Library webpage).
Shires Hall printing instructions (3rd floor, outside of 333 Shires)
Shires Hall is unlocked for student use weekdays (M-F) 8am-5pm. We have a printer on the third floor of Shires that is available for occasional MEng student use. If you intend to use the printer, follow the instructions I've listed below which are also posted on the wall above the printer.
This printer is for MEng students and staff, please use it mindfully. If you are looking to print large jobs (such as journal articles or anything over 10 pages) or in color, please use a copy shop or print at a campus library (information about printing on campus can be found on the UC Berkeley Library webpage).
Printing from your USB flash drive:
Print PDF docs or JPEG image files by using the Print From feature at the machine:
Documents must be saved as US Letter size PDF or JPEG file with no unknown characters in file name (e.g. _ , . - or different language inputs)
Insert your USB Flash drive into the USB port on the printer.
At the USB Drive Detected screen, touch Print from USB.
Enter Accounting Code 47914
To select a file for printing, browse to the file, then touch the check box. If multiple files require printing, browse to each file, then select the check box for each file.
Touch OK. A list of files selected for printing appears.
Adjust the feature settings as needed.
Touch Print.
When you are finished, remove the USB Flash drive.
To return to the Home screen, press the Home button.
Printing from your laptop:
Students who have Admin access on their laptop/computer can set up the print driver on their own to print directly from their machine. The steps may vary for PC users depending on the operating system. The name of the printer is, "Shires Hall 3rd Floor". The machine is a Xerox AltaLink® with model/queue #C8145. Please note: IT assistance is not available for this method of printing, unfortunately.
How to troubleshoot (common issues):
Document must be saved as US Letter size
USB documents must be saved as PDF or JPEG file
No unknown characters in file name (e.g. _ , . - or different language inputs)

Mudd printing instructions (2nd floor, between the elevator and Room #206)
We have a printer on the second floor of Mudd Hall that is available for occasional MEng student use. If you intend to use the printer, follow the instructions below. You will need a USB flash drive.
