Spring Boot Camp Enrollment FAQ

My Phase I enrollment opened but I can't add more than 12 units. When/how can I do that?

During Phase I enrollment, all UC Berkeley students may only add up to 12 units, including waitlisted courses. Once Phase II enrollment opens, students will be able to enroll in up to 20.5 units per semester. More information can be found on the Registrar's website.

The Spring Boot Camp class that I really want is currently full. What can I do?

Starting Spring 2023 we created an enrollment process to provide a fair chance for all students to enroll in their preferred boot camp classes in lieu of being restricted by the Phase 1 window.

We recommend checking CalCentral periodically during the enrollment period to see whether anyone has dropped the class. If someone drops the class, the seat becomes available in real-time, and you may add it to your schedule.

We encourage students to review the course descriptions for all classes. We also recommend students reach out to faculty to learn more about the class beyond the course description and see how the class can benefit them personally and/or professionally.

How come there aren't waitlists for Spring Boot Camp classes?

From our experience with past boot camp and leadership course registration, waitlists were inflated with students enrolled in one section but hoping to get into another resulting in stress for other students.

Given the short duration of boot camp, and the upcoming holiday break, we need to finalize all boot camp enrollment before the fall semester ends so faculty can plan for their courses with their finalized rosters and students know what to expect for their schedules.

What's the deadline to finalize my Spring Boot Camp enrollment?

Students will have until Phase II Friday, December 2, 2022 at 3pm PT to finalize their Spring Boot Camp enrollment. After this deadline, no additional change requests will be accommodated. This is to give faculty time to plan for their spring boot camp classes with finalized rosters.

What happens if I'm enrolled in more than 2 boot camp courses?

As shared in previous messaging, students enrolled in more than 2 boot camp courses will be randomly dropped from the overage.

Can I make changes to one of my Fung Institute leadership classes after the deadline?

In short, no. Due to the fast-paced and experiential nature of our courses, it's paramount for all students enrolled in the courses, as well as the faculty to have a finalized roster. We do our best to provide students with all the information needed to make thoughtful and intentional academic commitments - please be sure to review the syllabie and connect with the faculty about questions before committing to the class.

If you are experiencing a crises or emergency, please reach out to an Academic Advisor to discuss what options might be available to you.

Please keep in mind this policy affects all boot camp and semester leadership courses as outlined below.
