Abstract
Our team, Katalyst 2024, sought to expand upon the concept that video games can help students learn, memorize, and better comprehend subject material. The aim of this experiment is to design a quiz app through Replit and test to see if its utilization
ultimately boosts the grades of high school and college students. Katalyst 2024 is an iteration of Katalyst 2023. We sought to improve certain functions within the aspects of the game and quality of life features. Katalyst is programmed through Replit using
Python’s web development library, Flask, in combination with HTML, Java, and CSS coding. Our team aims to build upon the work of Katalyst 2023 and add important features such as ways to select the number of questions per quiz and the unit that the
quiz app pulls from, as well as allowing teachers to input their own course material for their students. This app will be tested in the future by chemistry students within Bergen Community College during the Fall 2024 semester at BCC.
