Overview: The Syllabus, Course Documents, and Assignments pages (accessed through the course menu) are all content areas. You can add individual files, links, etc. directly into a content area. However you can also choose to create folders to help you store and organize material. After creating a folder, you can add individual files, links, additional subfolders, or other content into it.
A folder, depicted in Blackboard with a folder icon:
Action: Create a new folder inside any content area.
1. In the upper right corner of the page, make sure Edit Mode is ON, or click to turn it ON:
2. Under Build Content, select Content Folder:
3. Name the folder and, if you would like, provide a brief description. Do not include attachments here –they will go inside your folder after it has been created.
4. You may date-restrict the folder so students see it only when you would like them to:
When you date-restrict a folder, all the content within it is restricted according to the folder settings, so it is not necessary to individually date-restrict each item within a folder.
Also, when date restricting keep the Permit Users to View this Content option defaulted to Yes, as a No will override any date restrictions you set.
5. Click Submit. Once the folder appears, click on the folder name to enter it.
