VIRTUAL FIELD TRIP
Concepts & Creations
Transport students beyond the walls of the classroom and into a Stanley Black & Decker Makerspace where making and doing is a way of life!
Inspire your students to be agents of innovation. Working alongside the experts of the Stanley Black & Decker Makerspace, students will see and experience first-hand how math, science, technology, creativity and teamwork can lead to technological advancements in our everyday lives.
Your students may dream of being a pro athlete, a scientist, or of just making good grades. No one dreams of becoming addicted to drugs, but all across America, students’ dreams are being derailed by opioids.
No matter how it begins, recovery from addiction is a struggle. Give middle and high school students the information they need about how addiction can start in Opioids: Real People. Real Stories. Real Science. You will meet:
- Two retired professional athletes who understand the pressure to play through pain and now focus their efforts on giving alternative pain management options to young athletes.
- A musician who played at Carnegie Hall before becoming addicted and now supports musicians who are in recovery.
- Three generations affected by opioid addiction who define the far-reaching impact of this crisis.
Discover the Spider-Verse
Students will meet the producers of the film, Chris Miller and Phil Lord, as well as the movie’s directors, animators and designers to learn all about the art, science, and real-world inspiration behind making the film. Throughout the journey, students will learn how the decisions they make every day can impact their own communities and their world. Students will also be encouraged to embrace the superhero within as various stars of the film, including Shameik Moore as Miles Morales and Jake Johnson as Peter Parker, remind them that “anyone can wear the mask.”
Innovating the Future
Join Boeing and Discovery Education on a mission to inspire the world through aerospace innovation with an exclusive virtual field trip to historic Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. This behind-the-scenes tour will introduce students to Boeing employees who are preparing to write the next chapter of space history with the launch of the Starliner/CST-100 spacecraft and the deployment of the Space Launch System (SLS).
Virtual Field Trip
Join us as we go behind-the-scenes at the Palo Verde Generating Station, the largest power plant in the United States. Watch now to see how nuclear technologies are helping to develop more environmentally friendly electrical power!
Prepare your students with our standards-aligned companion activities to extend the learning from the Virtual Field Trip to the classroom. Further your students' interest through in-depth conversation and hands-on activity.

Tested at NASA Ames Research Center (with Simone Giertz!)
Tested recently spent the week at NASA Ames Research Center in silicon valley, the campus where NASA performs research and development into technology and science supporting future satellites, robots, and crewed missions to space. Ariel, Simone, and Norm test pilot the Vertical Motion Simulator that trained Space Shuttle astronauts and visit the awesome 20G centrifuge!
