We are thrilled to share that Belswains Primary School has been honoured by the FA and Dacorum Schools Sports Network for our commitment to providing equal opportunities for all pupils. We are proud to have received a trophy for ensuring equal access and opportunities for girls both in our curriculum and extracurricular activities.
Our participation in a mixed league allows both girls and boys to play together, fostering teamwork and inclusivity. Currently, we have 10 girls training weekly and taking part in both friendly and competitive matches.
Mark your calendars for our next competitive match on Thursday, 23rd January at Hobletts Manor. We invite everyone to come and support our team as they play away at 15:30!
Thank you for your continued support in making Belswains a place where everyone has the chance to shine.
This week in Reception, our young explorers have been on a literary adventure inspired by the story "Star in a Jar." The children have taken on the challenge of designing a special place to keep their treasures safe, sparking their imagination and creativity.
As part of their literacy journey, they have also been planning their own stories. Each child has been thinking about a unique character and the kind of treasure they would love to discover. This activity not only enhances their storytelling skills but also encourages them to express their thoughts and ideas vividly.
Through these engaging exercises, our Reception pupils are developing their narrative skills and letting their imaginations soar. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and look forward to seeing their stories come to life!
On Friday, Year 3 enjoyed a hands-on, interactive workshop that truly brought history to life. The children participated in activities such as fossil excavation and learning hunting skills, offering a fascinating glimpse into prehistoric times. They had the opportunity to view an impressive collection of genuine Paleolithic, Mesolithic, and Neolithic artifacts, as well as Ice Age fossils. To top it off, the children engaged in creative activities, making their own biscuits and bracelets—a fun and memorable way to conclude the day!
Year 4 participated in a Viking day, where they came to school dressed in their finest Viking outfits and had great fun. They travelled back to 9th Century Britain to help Brother Thomas - a monk, decide whether to join the Vikings or stay at the Monastery. The children listened to the Viking saga and acted out various scenes enhancing their understanding of Viking life. They then learnt about the Nordic language and made Rune stones with their initials in using clay. To finish our day the children made Viking pancakes, which many thought were very tasty.
The festive season has well and truly begun here at Belswains. Reception put on an amazing dress rehearsal for their siblings and KS1 pupils. They cannot wait to perform for their families next week.
We are excited to share with you the various activities and events planned for Christmas at Belswains Primary School. We believe that this time of year is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate together as a school community.
