Public Issues

Course Information

Our American society is always changing. Some would suggest that we are progressing while others would say the very fabric of our nation is crumbling as new legislation and court decisions come down the pipe on controversial issues. Illegal immigration, same-sex marriage, drug legalization, to name a few; all can cause intense debate and polarize a nation. However, our goal in this class is to find a way to explore these issues with a firm understanding of Constitutionality, Judicial Reviews, and foundational arguments. Hopefully, with these tools we will be able to come to our own opinions on these matters in a civil and enlightening manner. This course is a social studies elective course offered to sophomores - seniors. This course will focus on the political structure of the United States and spend several weeks looking at current issues that are presenting themselves in the Unites States and how they fit into the framework of the government.

*Striving to be as un-biased as possible*
