Let’s get one thing straight right out of the gate: You did not buy an app. The Splash Player app is completely free to download and use.
What you have paid for is a private membership, and the exclusive network access that comes with it. You have joined a completely different way to experience streaming.
We do not invent the rules of digital architecture—we simply navigate them. The internet, your hardware, and the heavy daily data all operate on strict physical laws. If you want to enjoy this premium streaming life without buffering, crashing, or freezing, you must adopt the maintenance rituals below.
These steps are not suggestions; they are the required routines to keep the architecture standing. When you respect the hardware and follow the rituals, your streaming experience will be nearly flawless.
Do the maintenance. Follow the steps.
This is the way.
Think of your streaming device like a relationship. A cheap device is high-maintenance—it always demands your attention, complains about the internet, and throws a fit if you ignore it. Do yourself a favor: rethink your choices. Live with what you have, or go get a new girlfriend... I mean, a new streaming device. (Wink wink).
The Bare Minimum "Entry Level" Specs: If you want peace of mind, your device needs: a fast processor, a minimum of 2GB of high-quality RAM (no cheap bottom-shelf knock-offs), 16GB of storage, and a strong Wi-Fi 5 or 6 chipset.
The Amazon Fire Stick 4K Max hits this bare minimum perfectly. But if I had my way, every single member would use an Nvidia Shield Pro. Why? Because I'm selfish and want some downtime to watch TV too, instead of answering emails about buffering!
Here is what happens: Your device sits idle all day. By 8:00 PM prime time, the Wi-Fi connection is ghosting you, and the electronics are hot from just sitting there. You turn on the game, and it’s just buffer, buffer, buffer.
Before you email support, the true answer is always the same: Unplug that device and let it breathe. You should already be in the mindset of restarting your device at least once a week, or 30 minutes before your "must-watch" time slot.
Can't reach back there behind the TV to unplug it? Buy a cheap Kasa Wi-Fi Smart Plug (or a smart power bar with a surge protector). Plug your TV and your streaming device into it. (Note: Do NOT plug your router into it, for obvious reasons—if you turn off the router, you have no Wi-Fi to turn it back on!).
The Ritual: You can now cut the power to your streaming device right from your phone while sitting on the couch, making supper, or walking the dog.
The Ultimate Hack: Set a timer on the Kasa app to automatically power down your TV and streaming stick at 2:00 AM every single night, and turn it back on at 6:00 AM. You will never have to think about the "weekly reboot" again, and you'll protect your expensive TV from weather-related power surges.
The Recovery Vault (Watch Before Emailing Support)
When something stops working, it is easy to assume the service is broken. 99% of the time, it isn't. The issue is almost always built-up app data, a tired device, or a simple internet hiccup.
We have built this video vault to walk you through the exact recovery steps. Do not email support until you have watched and followed the videos below.
1. The Recovery System Intro Understand why these issues happen. (Spoiler: It's normal. Aging devices, Wi-Fi ghosts, and heavy data buildup are part of the digital architecture).
2. Know Your Username & Device Before you do anything, you must know your Username and what device you are using. If you wipe your data in the steps below, you will need this to log back in!
3. Fix "Not Working" or "Expired" in 30 Seconds Seeing the wrong date or a blank screen? Your device just needs a hard refresh. Unplug the power from the wall, wait 15–20 seconds, and plug it back in. This fixes most immediate glitches.
4. TV Guide (EPG) Not Loading? If the channels work but the guide is blank, do not panic. The EPG just needs a refresh. Restart your device, open the app, and follow this video to force the guide to download.
Note: We skip "Clear Cache" because it only fixes 5% of problems. We go straight to the real fix.
5. Clear Data (The Fast Reset) This is the most important tool you have. It wipes out stuck app data, old settings, and corrupted leftovers that cause login loops and freezing. Warning: This will log you out. Make sure you have your Username and Password ready.
6. Post-Clear Data: First Login Setup Once you have cleared the data (or if you did a full factory reset), your app is basically brand new again. This video shows you exactly how to log back in and set your app up for success.
If you cleared your data and your device is still freezing, your hardware is deeply corrupted. The final step is a Full Factory Reset of the device itself.
Warning: This is only for the strong-minded. It will wipe your entire streaming stick, meaning you have to log back into your Wi-Fi, download Splash Player again, and log into all your other apps. It is the ultimate solution, but it takes time.
This is a DIY self-access service. We guide you, but you do the clicks on your end. Before emailing support, you must provide the following information so we can actually help you:
Device model & age
Internet type (Wi-Fi or Ethernet)
What steps you already tried from the Maintenance Ladder above
The exact error message you are seeing

When streaming starts acting up (buffering, freezing, guide problems, or feeling like "it used to work better"), you are at a crossroads. There are usually two paths to fix it. Picking the right lane saves you a lot of time and frustration.
This is the "use it until it doesn't work well anymore" lane. If you want to keep your current device, you must follow this schedule:
Weekly: Unplug your device from the power for 60 seconds, then plug it back in.
Monthly: Clear the app cache (takes 3 minutes).
If things get stubborn: Clear the app data and log back in for a fresh start.
Most issues are just a buildup of stale app cache, old TV guide data, and the device getting a little tired over time.
If your device is older, has low storage, or you are simply fed up with babysitting it, upgrading is the fastest fix. Our network asks more from your device than basic apps do. You need "headroom."
The Headroom Rule: > For the smoothest long-term experience, you want a device with 3 to 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of Storage (or better). More headroom means fewer guide problems, less freezing, and rock-solid stability over months of daily use.
Choose your upgrade style:
The Simple Lane: For those who want easy navigation, minimal settings, and a "just watch TV" experience.
The Set-Top Box Lane: For power-users who want a "cable box" feel, advanced navigation, a bigger remote, and better handling of closed captions.
Amazon Fire Stick 4K Max (16GB): The bare minimum entry level.
Google TV Streamer 4K (32GB): Excellent headroom for the Simple Lane.
Onn 4K Pro (32GB): Great value when in stock.
Amazon Fire TV Cube: Faster, smoother, and heavier processing.
Nvidia Shield Pro: The premium "King of Kings." Massive headroom and power.
Note: Upgrades heavily improve your odds, but they are not a magic cure. Your streaming results still depend entirely on your home internet stability. (Using an Ethernet cable is always the best lane when possible).
If you are ready to upgrade but aren't sure which lane to pick, email support support@begoodvpn.com and reply with the following exact template:
I want the [Simple Lane / Set-Top Box Lane].
I am currently connected via [Wi-Fi / Ethernet].
My device is located [Right next to the router / Upstairs far from the router].
