Each year I use an AMAZING app called ClassDojo with the students in my class to encourage them to focus on important skills like working hard, staying on task, and participating. Students take an active role by working together with me to help identify expected behaviors that would help make our classroom run smoothly. Students can then earn points for their avatars for exhibiting these behaviors. They can also customize their Dojo monster avatars to make them fit their personalities. In addition to being fun, the students love being able to have a voice while getting immediate feedback on how they are doing. For these reasons I am super excited to continue using ClassDojo with the class this year to reward expected behaviors, learn about (and EMBRACE) the Power of Yet, and explore social emotional learning through the BIG ideas series!
