National Award Nominee
VIEWING PARTY FRIDAY NOV 1 at 12:40 PM
Last spring BEC-TV was honored to have two of our production receive Student Production Awards from the Upper Midwest Emmy Foundation.
Now one of those programs - our coverage of State Baseball at Target Field - has moved on to the national competition!
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will be presenting the The National Student Production Awards in New York City on November 1.
While it's being held in New York City, Nominated student groups from across the country will be gathering locally to view the Live Stream.
We're doing that as well: Active Techs are invited to join us at the NATAS Awards Viewing Party at BEC-TV.
We'll gather at 12:40 so we're settled in for the 1 pm start. Students MUST have parents excuse them from school. We can provide rides to the event and back to either school or home, depending on how long it runs.
STUDENTS:
-- RSVP to this invite the Google Calendar Invite we sent (Contact us if you didn't get one)
-- Ensure you're good to miss whatever classes might be at this time (If you need to be in class, then stay in class!)
PARENTS:
-- Please arrange through your school's attendance office for your kiddo to be gone
-- Email US as well, so we know your kid has your blessing
-- Let us know if you need us to provide transportation. or if you can HELP with transportation.

A response on the Spring Participation form is required for every Tech who considers themselves a part of BEC. It's past the deadline, so we really need that response!
Winter TechTeams are rolling!
It's not too late to join. Check out the Special Edition Tech Update: Shoots Signup Winter 2018-19 for all the information, and sign up on the TechTeam Form
This year we implemented a new way to track your time helping at BEC-TV by using a simple Google Form.
Please remember to sign in each time you're doing work for BEC-TV , and remind others to as well.
Look for the QR codes posted at our shoot locations. (Snapchat has a QR code reader built in- point your camera at the code and tap and hold. The posters also have a link written out.) Once you open this on your phone, bookmark it!
If you don't have a phone, ask a staff member or fellow Tech and they'll help you out.
If you forgot to sign in while at the event, you can do it later HERE. (Look for "Old shoots" if it's not on the current list)
Don't forget you to also log your time for helping in other ways than shoots. Editing, engineering, event planning, etc, all count! There are options on the same Sign In form.

Introducing TechTeams
Starting in the winter of 2018-19 most our shoots will be crewed by seasonal TechTeams.
Ready for a number to stun you into next week? 480! That's how many crew positions we get to fill for the 80 different productions we've got planned this winter. And YOU get to be a part of the action.
You've got some options for signing up, but here's something new: You MUST sign up for some stuff to be an active part of BEC-TV.
We know some of you have felt comfortable watching from the sidelines. Head's up: The coach is calling YOU into the game!
1) Sign up for a Winter Season TechTeam - The very best way to get involved. Regular shoots with a regular team! Yay!
2) Sign up for a MINIMUM of 3 Individual shoots this winter. That's like one a month. EVERYONE can handle that, right?
3) Bench Yourself: Too Busy this season? Take a break, and we'll chat again in the spring.
Deadline to respond by is Wednesday, December 12
Missed Basics?
Basics is a 3 hour training/orientation session required for all New Techs who want to volunteer with BEC.
We just held 2nd Trimester's session on December 3. The next one will be at the beginning of 3rd Trimester. However, if you're interested you don't have to wait until then. We can probably get you on a shoot as an "observer". Shoot us an email at bec-tv@isd271.org and let us know, and we'll get ya all set up.

NEW TECHS: BEC Basics...is here!
Basics is a 3 hour training/orientation session required for all New Techs who want to volunteer with BEC. It will be held on:
Monday December 3, 5:30-8:30 (parent info at 7:45),
***The Wednesday session has been cancelled due to lack of registration. (Everybody chose Monday!) If you are not able to make it to Basics, we would still love to talk with you!
Students will learn the basics of TV production and get hands-on time with the equipment. Parents are strongly encouraged to come for the last 45 minutes to get important information. Afterwards students and parents will have the opportunity to tour our station and production truck.

If you signed up with us recently and didn't attend the Fall Kickoff: we sent you an email with more information, as well as invites to the two Google Calendar events for Basics.
If you haven't signed up but are interested in joining: fill out this Online Tech Profile Form, and we'll send you the invites to Basics and more information. (Unfortunately Google Calendar isn't quite nice enough to let anyone who can see an event invite themselves, so we have to invite you first.)

Update 8-15-17: All BPS students who have expressed interest last spring in working with BEC-TV will find this as an activity on their class schedules. We will be removing people this fall who have not responded to followup's we've sent. If you want to work with BEC-TV this year and were not at our Fall Kickoff on August 15, be sure to contact BEC-TV Director Tom Ringdal ASAP tringdal@isd271.org 952-681-5900. Also, be sure to let us know if you want to work with us but this activity is NOT showing up on your class list.
NOV, 2017:
On November 16-18, BEC-TV Covers FOURTEEN High School Football State Tourney games at the amazing US Bank Stadium.
BEC-TV Student Techs of all ages should let us know ASAP if you're interested in working on the crew. Crew selection will be taking place this weekend. (We need our list to the HS League on Monday, Nov 6 )

SHOOTS CALENDAR: We're still adding our winter productions to the calendar. Expect plenty of Basketball & Hockey, as well as loads of concerts, esp. in December. Keep checking back, and start thinking about signing up to a Production Team for Winter!
SPRING BANQUET: NEW DATE!!! July 13, 6 PM
Update 6-27-18: LOTS of people wanted to come to the banquet but were slated to be out of town on June 29. WE'VE CHANGED THE DATE to JULY 13.
