Hello! I am so excited that you will be a part of our classroom community this year! The 2021-22 school year is my sixteenth year teaching. I earned my BA in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I earned my Masters of Education from Wright State University. I am licensed to teach English Language Arts (ELA) and social studies in grades 4-9.

My family and I love to travel to new places and attend Reds games! I also enjoy reading, scrapbooking, and playing Ticket to Ride with the family.

This year in ELA, you will be reading a variety of both fiction and nonfiction texts. All levels of ELA 6 will be required to read A Long Walk to Water, by Linda Sue Park, and The Watsons Go to Birmingham - 1963, by Christopher Paul Curtis.

You will be completing a variety of writing activities each week in class. We will explore and continue to work on and develop our narrative, expository, and argumentative writing.

Our vocabulary program includes an independent study using Membean, an online vocabulary program used in grades 6-12.

Please check Progressbook and Google Classroom for assignments and grades!

Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

"Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education."

*Progressbook (PB) - ALL assignments are posted in PB. In addition, this is where you will check your grades.

*Google Classroom (GC) - You will be turning in a number of assignments via GC. Please remember, just because you "turn in" an assignment, doesn't mean you COMPLETED the assignment. Be sure you complete the assignment before turning it in to me!

Students will be given a code or sent an email invite at the start of the school year. Parents will be sent an email invite.
