SCHOOL DAY: The school day officially starts at 8:15. Most busses arrive by 8:00. The end-of-the day bell rings at 2:55.
SIX-DAY Cycle: Our school’s schedule rotates on a six-day cycle. The first day of school is day 1, the second day of school is day 2. Once we get to day 6, the next school day is day 1.
BIRTHDAY TREATS: You may send in a treat with your child to help us celebrate his/her birthday. However, please send in something like cupcakes or cookies, because they are easier to distribute than an entire cake. If your child has birthday that falls outside of the school year, you may send something in on their half-birthday.
STUDENT PLANNERS: Please sign and return their planner each and every day! It will have their homework assignments that need to be finished and returned!
ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL: If your child is sick or absent please send in a note the next day your child comes to school. Give the reason why and any other pertinent information. If we do not receive a note from you, your child will have an unexcused absence.
TRANSPORTATION: If your child needs to ride a bus different than the one they normally ride, or if you will be picking up your child from school, please send a note in with your child that day.
ASSESSMENTS:
Third grade students receive letter grades in each
subject. Students are assessed in many ways. Their
grades will be an average of daily work, a variety of
daily assessed items, Unit tests, cumulative tests and
open ended items.
✓PSSA testing- The testing will happen in the spring, I just want students to do their best! More information will follow as we get closer to the test.
You can access grades anytime:

EVERYDAY MATH AND READING WONDERS PROGRAM: Both programs have an online component. Each student is able to log in and complete games and activities based on lessons completed in the classroom. Login cards will be provided at a later date.
READING: Students independently chose a book at their reading level from the Library, take it home, read it several times, return it to school, and then take a comprehension quiz on the computer. The goal for each student is to have at least 50 reading points per marking period
