My JAGS Journey

"Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."

-Ralph Waldo Emerson

About me

My name is Zack Nosky and I am a student at Jackson High School as well as a member of the Jackson Academy for Global Studies (JAGS). I've been a member of JAGS since my Freshman year. I enjoy traveling which was one of my main motivators to join JAGS. So far, with JAGS, I have visited the Heifer Global Village in Maryland as well as the NHSMUN conference in New York City. I also traveled to Italy with JAGS in March, 2023. Some of my favorite places I have visited outside of JAGS are Hawaii, Chicago, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Crater Lake, the Redwoods in California, Zion National Park, The Bahamas, and Riviera Maya in Mexico. Traveling with JAGS has taught me to investigate the world and recognize perspectives. On top of being a member of JAGS, I am a varsity athlete in Volleyball and Track. I am a member of National Honors Society and I am a member of Jackson High School's Varsity J Club. I have been an Eagle Scout and an active BSA Junior Assistant Scoutmaster since September 13, 2020. I am an active youth leader in the Massillon Church of Christ.  Some of my favorite activities include camping, reading, beach volleyball, golfing, fishing, running, climbing, and hiking. My favorite subjects are History and English. I plan to play men's volleyball and study Political Science/Pre-Law at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI. My JAGS Service

My 8th grade year, I was instantly intrigued by the academy when it was introduced to our class. As I mentioned earlier, I enjoy traveling and the thought of traveling with JAGS excited me. When I joined the program, I learned about the value of leadership and service. JAGS taught me how to get involved with programs of community service. The pillars Communicate Ideas and Take Action have guided me through my service in JAGS. Some places I have enjoyed volunteering at are the Northeastern Ohio Christian Youth Camp, The Exceptional Olympics, the Stark County Hunger Task Force, the Canton Hall of Fame BalloonFest, The American Legion, The Jackson Township Festival, The Jackson Volleyball Program, and numerous BSA Eagle Scout projects. Currently, I have accumulated over 150 service hours through JAGS and plan to obtain a community service seal at my graduation, along with seals of bi-literacy (Spanish), science, college readiness, and job readiness. Being a member of JAGS has broadened my perspectives in many ways and has helped me become more globally competent. The academy has especially taught me the values that come from the four pillars of JAGS: Investigate the World, Recognize Perspectives, Communicate Ideas, and Take Action. These are lessons that I will carry with me for my entire life beyond high school.
