In U.S. History, we learned about the music of the sixties. We specifically learned about Woodstock. It was nice to learn about and we even watched a trailer for a documentary about it. I enjoyed learning about the tradgedies of Woodstock because it allowed me to think of solutions to prevent things that went wrong. For example, to prevent people from being intoxicated at the event, enforcing breathalyzer use upon entry.
This represents the JAGS pillar of recognizing perspectives because we were given the opportunity to realize what life was like in the 1960s through listening to the music of that time and analyzing it to find out what significant events happened during that decade.
In Chemistry, we did a mole project to start our unit working with mols for measurement. I created a poster with a mole and the mol equation. I enjoyed creating this poster because I was able to draw which I enjoy. This gave me an opportunity to be creative and express myself through art.
This project represents the JAGS pillar of communicating ideas because I formed ideas as to what I would create, discussing with my friends and parents which medium would be best for me to do.
In English, we did a dating game based on the Great Gatsby. There were different groups during a span of three days. I represented Daisy and I did a fairly good job. I represented her personality and interests, which allowed me to recognize life and love through the perspective of Daisy.
This represents the JAGS pillar of recognizing perspectives because it allowed me to see love through the eyes of Daisy. The game also allowed me to understand her desires better than I had before.
In Spanish, we made advertisements while speaking the language. I advertised bracelets and my friend who worked with me advertised a purse. It really helped me expand my Spanish vocabulary and made speaking the language more easily.
This represents the JAGS pillar of communicating ideas because I got to work with another person and communicate about what we would advertise, our script, and filming.
For my thank you project, I thanked bus drivers with three other people. This helped me recognize how important bus drivers are. They are quite underappreciated yet they are quite vital for children and some teens.
This represents the JAGS pillar of taking action because my group and I took action towards recognizing the bus drivers for all they do and how much they help us.
I worked with three other people to research about eliminating plastic waste. This project really opened my eyes as to how bad plastic use is for everyone. I was quite happy that I was able to work with my friends smoothly. We were able to divide up the work fairly and barely had any issues completing the project on time.
This project represents the JAGS pillar of taking action because we helped reduce plastic waste using such a simple yet effective approach.
I worked with my friend on a documentary about transgender rights. It was quite difficult because we originally had four people in our group but two of them ended up leaving the group and doing a separate documentary each alone. This left my friend and I to split up the work between us two. My friend edited the documentary and I researched. Although the process was not fun, we got through it together. I learned that this strengthened our trust for each other and sometimes people will disappoint each other.
This project represents the JAGS pillar of taking action because my partner and I took action in our own ways, recognizing trans rights and taking action to help our collective grades.
