Meet the Teacher

I am an English teacher at North Brunswick High School in Leland, NC... just miles from the beach. I believe that learning should be lifelong. When we stop learning and growing, we become stuck, stagnant, and indistinct. I want to help my students to continue moving forward, being relevant and powerful. People can truly love to learn, and I believe that my students will come to do so.

I am from Rutherford County in the foothills of North Carolina. I grew up in the small town of Spindale where my dad was the mayor. He believed in working for change, to make things better for the people of our town, and he shared those values with me. I choose to change the world through the students I teach. I am a mother and a grandmother. I also have fur babies and encourage rescuing shelter animals.

I earned three associate degrees from Cleveland Community College in Shelby, NC, (English, history, and social science), and I am a firm believer in the value of a community college education. I graduated with a BA in English with Teaching Licensure from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington - Go SEAHAWKS!
