Welcome to STEM!
In this class, students will explore the exciting world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics through hands-on projects, problem-solving challenges, and real-world applications. Our goal is to spark curiosity, build critical thinking skills, and foster creativity as students learn how STEM shapes the world around them.
What We’ll Learn:
Scientific Inquiry: Asking questions, designing experiments, and analyzing results.
Engineering & Design Process: Identifying problems, brainstorming solutions, building prototypes, and improving designs.
Technology & Innovation: Understanding how technology works and using it to solve problems creatively and responsibly.
Mathematics in Action: Applying math concepts to real-life scenarios, such as coding, data analysis, and measurement.
About me
My name is Shelby James and I am excited to be Leland Middle School's new STEM teacher! This is my eighth year in education and my fifth year teaching at the middle school level. I am passionate about empowering students and equipping them with practical, real-world skills they can carry with them into the next chapter of their lives.
This is a safe space to experiment, fail, learn, and try again. Mistakes are part of the learning process, and perseverance is key to success in STEM. All students are encouraged to share ideas, ask questions, and support one another.
