I have been an art educator for over forty years, the past 21 have been at Jessie Mae Monroe Elementary School. I began my teaching career at Southeastern Stokes Junior High School , in Walnut Cove North Carolina, where I also ran a Clay Studio working in primitive firings. After getting married in 1988, I moved to Pickerington Ohio, teaching adult and senior citizens as well as spending time with my husband and son. In 2006 and 2014 I was named Jessie Mae Monroe's Elementary teacher of the year and in 2015 I was honored to be selected as one of the Life Changers of the the. In 2022 I was selected as one of Prangs National Teacher of the year and I am honored to continue teaching the students of Jessie Mae Monroe.
