My name is Dessie Greene and I am so excited to serve as your child's special education teacher this year! This is my seventh year teaching and my third year at Southport Elementary. I love our dolphin family and working with our amazing Teacher Assistant, Miss Darcy! 

I earned my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from UNC Charlotte and hold teaching licenses in Elementary Education (K-6), Special Education General Curriculum (K-12), and Special Education Adaptive Curriculum (K-12). In 2023, I earned National Board Certification in Early to Middle Childhood Literacy. I completed my Master’s degree in School Administration at Appalachian State University in 2025.

In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, shopping, reading, and spending time with my two pups, Bean and Poppy!
